Garry "Cat" Randall Young

GARRY RANDALL YOUNG, son of Berry B. and Ruby (Fountain) Young, was born on March 4, 1955 in the San Fernando Valley, California, and passed away on October 4, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri.

Garry started his career at age 19 for Harrison Signs.  On April Fool’s Day, 1988, he opened up Young Signs, in Lebanon.

On April 11, 1989, he was united in marriage with Loretta Rose Russell and this union was blessed with four children, all surviving, Ryan, Ashley, Brittini and Alex.

Garry had a lifetime goal to rehabilitate teens that were at risk and teach them a trade and set them on the right path.

During his free time away from his shop, he loved farming and raising Black Angus cattle, he also enjoyed sports, especially his Kansas City Chiefs and all college football.  He also enjoyed kicking back and watching westerns, but above everything else, his grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved to play with them.

Garry was also actively involved in the Kiwanis and all of their service projects and fund raising.  He also LOVED golf, and running the Kiwanis Golf Tournament  every year was great way to raise money and play golf.  He also started the Hackers Invitational Golf Tournament and ran that for 16 years, always on the 3rd Saturday of October, because the weather was always perfect.  He ran these tournament and was active in Kiwanis as long as his health permitted him.

He is survived by his wife Loretta, of the home; their children:  Ryan Donte Fiveash and his wife Alisha Best, of Montreal, MO; Ashley Gwen Laxson Walker and her husband Wayne, of Harrison, AR; Brittini Dawn Blackburn and her husband Christopher Glenn, of Marshfield, MO; and Alex Randall Young, of Springfield; and Terra Rogers Fiveash, of Springfield.; grandchildren Drew Ryan Fiveash, of Harrison, AR, Landon Walker, Isabel Elise Jones and Evelyn Blake Walker of Harrison, AR; and Sadie Caprice Blackburn, of Marshfield; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Bodie) Young and his wife Valda, of Lebanon; Garry’s special sister in law, Joy Young, of Everton, AR; Perry (Big) Young; Harry (Goober) Young and his wife Debbie; and Sherry Young Jones and her husband Fred, all of Phillipsburg, MO; Willodean Chatterdon,; Tom Young and his wife Verdie; Freida Mae Hudson; Beverly Tomlison; Francis Young, all of Harrison, AR; He is also survived by is brother and sister-in-laws, Tommy Russell and his wife Mindi; Matthew Russell and his wife Denia and Karen Russell, all of Lebanon; and a very special mother-in-law, Evelyn Russell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Larry (Bulldog) Young, Terry (Dink) Young, Kirby Tomlison, Doyle Young, Stella Hudson and her husband Charles, Gene Chatterton and Richard Hudson.  Granddaughter, Hailey Dawn Owen and his nephew Rodney Lee Young.

Visitation will be from 11-12:30, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Fairview United Methodist Church, with memorial services starting at 12:30.  Burial will follow in the McBride Cemetery, in Competition.
