Max E. Thornton

 
 

Max Edsel Thornton, Marshfield, was born March 24, 1946, in Springfield, MO to Glenn and Agnes (Brown) Thornton. He departed this life on March 13, 2024, in his home at the age of 77.

Max obtained his bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology from School of the Ozarks. He served in the United States Navy. He had worked as an oil field engineer and had owned his own plumbing company in Branson for 15 years. Max was a member of MENSA, Intertel, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He practiced Zen Buddhism. Max was interested in astrology, as well as acting; he had played Young Matt at Shepherd of the Hills.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Max Bryan Thornton; his brother, James (J.B.) Thornton; and two sisters, Glenda Sue Faerber and Sandra Kaye Thornton.

Max is survived by his daughter, Stacy Lee Thornton, Tulsa, OK; his brother, Milo Jackson Thornton and wife Lindsee, Rogersville; grandchildren, Marinn Miller (Cope), Haleigh Thornton, Harrison White, Benjamin White, and Anderson White; and one great-grandchild, Julian Miller.

Interment in Missouri Veterans Cemetery will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.
