Ruth Louise Detherow

 
 

Ruth Louise Detherow, Sarasota, Florida, was born December 14, 1928, the second child to Fred Allen and Jessie Mae (Montgomery) Rost in Marshfield, Missouri. She departed this life December 20, 2023, at the age of 95 years.

Growing up, Louise attended Rocky Point one room school, then graduated from Fair Grove High school in 1947.

Louise met Herman Ray Carrier on a blind date set up by a friend and neighbor, Loren Cook. They were married June 28, 1947, a union which lasted 41 years until Herman’s passing in 1988.

They began milking cows, doing custom hay bailing and raising beef cattle and pigs on their 160 acre farm along with the help of Judy, Dale, and Ruth.

She married Miodo (Mike) Detherow on July 19, 1996. This union lasted for 22 years.

Louise enjoyed puzzles, playing dominos, cards, gardening and traveling. She made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren for high school graduation.

She was an active member of Elkland Methodist Church and Marshfield Nazarene Church.

Louise moved in with her daughter Karla in 2019 and moved with her to Sarasota Florida in 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Herman Carrier; second husband, Miodo Detherow; her son, Herman Dale Carrier; great-granddaughter Reily Rouse; brother Hershel Rost; sisters, Ardelene Trantham, Betty Gardner, and Marjorie Hernandez.

Louise is survived by her children, Judy Rouse and husband Robert, Houston, MO, Ruth Coffey and husband Paul, Bolivar, MO, Karla Murgel and husband Kevin, Sarasota, FL; sister, Evelyn Hampton and husband Larry, Marshfield, MO; daughter-in-law, Patricia Carrier, Carthage, MO; grandchildren, Jeramy (Lonnie) Lee, Tiffany (Randy) Kauffman, Curtis (Amber) Rouse, Vickie Winn, Jessica Carrier, Joshua (Amy) Carrier, Jonathan (Ana) Carrier, Ben (Tiffany) Carrier, Michael (Brandy) Coffey, Eric Coffey, Kaitlin (Dakota) Lowery, Kylee (John) Sampley, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Elkland.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday in the funeral home.
