Wayne Galbraith

 
 

Ronald Wayne Galbraith, Marshfield, was born December 16, 1940 to W.E. “Bill” and Mary Edith (Jameson) Galbraith. He departed this life on December 12, 2023 in his home at the age of 82 with his family by his side.

Wayne graduated from Marshfield High School in 1958. In 1963, he started working the parts counter at Marshfield Machinery Company. In 1968, he bought an ownership stake in the business and continued to operate it for the last 60 years. He was honored with many recognitions throughout his career including Marshfield Businessperson of the Year in 2006 and Lifetime Achievement in Business Award in 2023 by the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce. Wayne was recognized by the Marshfield FFA in 2022 for 50+ years of being the voice of countless truck and tractor pulls in the area. In addition to announcing with his quick-witted humor, Wayne was a founding member of the Southern Missouri Pulling Association and contributed his time and resources over the years. He also served as a board member for Citizens State Bank/Metropolitan National Bank for 22 years.

Wayne married Connie (Owen) in 1986 and they’ve enjoyed 37 years of fun adventures and work together. In 1994 Wayne and Connie purchased cattle and started Galbraith Limousin. They started with a small herd on the Galbraith Missouri Century Farm, est. 1894, west of town and expanded to Connie’s family farm at High Prairie and more farms over the years. They were recognized as the Heartland Limousin Association 2010 Commercial Producer(s) of the year. He was also a life-long member of Mission Home Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Galbraith; one sister, Anieta Fish; one sister-in-law Shirley Galbraith; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Arthur and Sigel Owen.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Connie (Owen) Galbraith, of the home; his children, Ron and Beckie Galbraith, Marshfield, Jeff and Kathy Galbraith, Marshfield, Krisi Schell, Springfield, Mackenzie and John Detherow, Marshfield, Breanne and Sam Rost, Marshfield; his sister, Billie Arthur, Springfield; three sisters-in-law, Kaye and Ray Brinson, Nixa, Lucinda and Greg Wadley, Fremont Hills, Deborah Owen, Marshfield; eleven grandchildren, Ryan and Haley Galbraith, Jerad Galbraith, Jacob Galbraith, Hannah Galbraith, Sierra Schell, Nathan Schell, Collin Detherow, Carter Detherow, Addison Detherow, Coby Rost and Atley Rost; two-great-grandchildren, RaeLynn Galbraith and Paisley Galbraith; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Hope Church of the Nazarene, Marshfield, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in Mission Home Cemetery.
