Judith "Judy" (Moffitt) Young

Judith Young, beloved mother, grandma, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and daughter, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, a little after 1:00 a.m., at the age of 75, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born on August 20, 1949, Judy lived a life defined by strength, love, and kindness. She was truly one of a kind — not a single person who met her had anything but admiration and respect. Her heart was open, her spirit was strong, and her compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she touched.

As a single mother, Judy raised her three children — Joe Livingston, Jennifer Smith, and Jessica Livingston — with endless love, courage, and dedication. She was both a mother and a father to them, giving them the very best of herself every single day. While working as a talented paralegal, she managed to balance a demanding career with the needs of her family, always putting her children first. She loved horses and farming. And her dogs, especially the newest edition to the dog herd, Freddy. She loved her friends and family, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Judy’s love continued to grow as her family grew. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Stockton Smith, Riley Bailey, Oscar Sickinger, Emelia Hansen, Duncan Livingston, Ethan Sickinger, Ian Hansen, and Eli Livingston, and a joyful great-grandmother to Maxwell Hansen and a soon to be born baby girl. Her family was the light of her life, and her legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will carry on through them. She leaves behind a son, Joe (Jen) and two daughters, Jennifer (Chris) and Jessica (Aaron); eight grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and three brothers, Mickey (Claudia), Philip (Mary) and Sam (Radah).

She will be remembered for her gentle strength, her fierce loyalty, her warm laugh, and her unwavering support for those she loved. Her absence leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, but her spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her Mother Nelle; her father, Robert; her brother, David (Sharon) and her dear, sweet love of her life David Young.
