Patrick Dion Maxwell

Patrick Dion Maxwell, of Springfield, Missouri, was born on September 29, 1968, in Adrian Michigan to John Kimbrough and Denise Maxwell. He passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2026, at the age of 57, surrounded by the love of his family.

Growing up, Patrick developed a passion for football that would shape much of his life. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School before continuing his education at Northwood University, where he played college football. The lessons he learned as an athlete, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership, became the values he carried into every season of his life.

Patrick built a successful career in Information Technology, serving in leadership and project management roles for more than 25 years. Throughout his career, he worked for organizations including Arthur Andersen, Community Health Network, Mercy Health System, Integrity Home Care & Hospice, and JRI Industries. Wherever he went, he earned the respect of those around him through his integrity, steady leadership, and genuine willingness to help others.

Later in life, Patrick made a career change that reflected what mattered most to him. He stepped away from the corporate world to join Crosslines of Springfield, where he found great purpose in serving his community. It wasn’t just a job to him. It was an opportunity to care for people, lend a helping hand, and make a difference in the lives of those around him. Patrick believed that serving others was one of life’s greatest callings, and he lived that out every day.

While technology was his profession, coaching was his calling. Patrick served as a Campus Supervisor at Hillcrest High School while coaching both football and wrestling, where he poured countless hours into mentoring and developing young men and women. He loved the games, but he loved the people even more. To him, success wasn’t measured only by wins, but by the character, confidence, and integrity of the athletes he helped shape.

On June 16, 2012, Patrick married the love of his life, Alinda Smith. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and family. His greatest joy came from being a husband, father, grandfather, and the steady presence his family could always count on.

Outside of work and coaching, Patrick embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a devoted fan of all things Michigan. If you knew Patrick, you probably heard him greet you with a joyful, “What up doe!” He could often be found proudly wearing Michigan Wolverines or Detroit Lions gear. He loved weightlifting, grilling for family and friends, listening to music, talking sports, and was a lifelong Batman fan. He would often say “you’ve never seen us both in the same place” Patrick also loved sharing what he called a little “Real Talk” on Facebook by posting encouragement, life lessons, and thoughts that challenged people to be better. He wasn’t afraid to snap a selfie or two along the way, either. More than any hobby, Patrick simply loved being with people. He had a gift for bringing family and friends together and making everyone feel like they belonged.

Patrick was preceded in death by his in-laws, Alf and Celeste Smith.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alinda Maxwell, of the home; six children, Marlee McShane and husband Tim of Marshfield, William Maxwell and Holly Williams of Springfield, Anthony Maxwell and Parris Mayhood of Kansas City, Missouri, Kaitlyn Maxwell of Springfield, Trey McDaris and wife Kaylee of Springfield, and Kellen Maxwell and Amy Alvarado of Springfield; his mother, Denise Maxwell of Albion, Michigan; his father, John Kimbrough and wife Debbie of Springfield; three siblings, Marcus Kimbrough and wife Brea of Joplin, Brandon Kimbrough and wife Christa of Ozark, and Nicole Holt and husband Josh of Ozark; grandchildren Oaklee, Case, Layke, Carter, Maya, Ricardo, Mila, Rett, Madden, and two grandchildren on the way, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former players, coworkers, and students, all of whom he lovingly called “Fam.”

Patrick will be remembered as a man who loved people well. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen, encouraged, and valued. Whether he was coaching on the football field, supervising students at Hillcrest High School, spending time with his family, or striking up a conversation with a complete stranger, he gave people his full attention and his whole heart. He believed in hard work, loyalty, and showing up for others. While he accomplished much throughout his life, his greatest legacy is found in the lives he impacted, the young men and women he helped shape, the husband and father he was, and the example he set of what it means to be a good man. His influence will continue to live on through his family, his friends, his former players and students, and all those who are better because they had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at North Point Church, 3401 W. Norton Rd. Springfield, MO, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.
