Terry Durwood "Nick" Nichols

 
 

Terry Durwood “Nick” Nichols, 78, of Marshfield, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri.  He was born September 11, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, a son of Harold Durwood and Marjorie (Rider) Nichols.

On September 6, 1980, in Littleton, Colorado, he was united in marriage to Patricia Carole Soule.  They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Nick served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Nick owned and operated Colorado Custom Countertop Shop in Wellington, Colorado. Moving to Kansas City in 1990 he was a Battery specialist for Liebert Corporation. Nick and Trish retired to Marshfield, Missouri in 2000. 

Having a white beard, being a large man and a kind, loving soul, Nick loved playing Santa Claus and earned the nickname, St. Nick.  He lived life to the fullest.

Survivors include his wife, Trish; two children, Shay Pendergrass and husband Michael and Monty Franssen and wife Paula; three grandchildren, Joseph Grassi and wife Jessica, Josh Pendergrass and Tyler Pendergrass; two great-grandchildren, Jake and Brooke and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Todd Franssen.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held at a later date.
