Shirley Ann Chudomelka was born May 26, 1929, to John Burton and Katy Lee (Johnson) Whittington in Ozark, Missouri, and passed away on May 13, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

On August 10, 1949, Stanley Chudomelka and Shirley Whittington were married in Ozark, Missouri. After Stanley’s graduation from St. Louis School of Pharmacy in 1951, the Chudomelka family moved to Marshfield where Stanley worked for Earl Shields before opening his own business in 1953, Stanley’s Pharmacy. The pharmacy contained a soda fountain for which Shirley made all of the sandwich spreads.

Shirley’s best role was as a wife and mother to Regina, Rhonda and Rowena. Her days were filled with activities in this role. She was noted for her flower gardens and her seasonal decorations. She was a longtime member of the Marshfield Country Club where she enjoyed playing in the Ladies League as well as with other friends. Shirley loved cards games! For many years she was a member of several bridge clubs and had a group of friends with which she played bridge or chicken foot on Thursdays. Camping with friends on Memorial Day and Labor Day was a cherished memory. Shirley’s love of yellow and earrings made her special indeed. So feel free to celebrate her life with bright colors. Shirley led a very full and fun-filled life.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Stanley Chudomelka. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Regina and Tom Spriggs, Marshfield, Rhonda and Roy Edge, Springfield, and Rowena and Daniel Hinojosa, San Jose, CA; four grandchildren, Rina Edge, Vanessa Spriggs Matteson, Victoria Hinojosa, and Samuel Hinojosa; and one sister, Sally Jane Scott.

Funeral services for Shirley will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with interment following in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to New Leash on Life or Marshfield United Methodist Church and left in care of Fraker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO, 65706.
