Hon. Donald Gene Cheever (Ret.)

Hon. Donald Gene Cheever (Ret.), Marshfield, was born December 22, 1943, to Paul and Lila (Peaslee) Cheever in Macon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Mission Ridge Senior Living in Springfield at the age of 82 years.

Don was a longtime local attorney in Webster County and was the Webster County Prosecutor for many years. In 2006 Don was elected Associate Circuit Judge and held that position until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Linda Cheever on March 24, 2026.

He is survived by two children, Laura and Terry Stewart of Strafford, Brian Cheever of Springfield; grandchildren, Caitlin and Charles Shannon, Micah and Angela Stewart, Grace and John Sides, Jude Stewart, Abigail Stewart, Levi Stewart;  great grandchildren Annabelle Stewart, Charles Stewart, Hattie Shannon, Eleanor Shannon, Elias Sides; one sister, Paula O’Hearn of Florida; one brother-in-law, Mike and Nikki Cunningham of Rogersville; two sisters-in-law, Kay Tate of Strafford, Hephizibah Sue Cunningham of Marshfield.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield. Interment will follow in Marshfield Cemetery under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., in the funeral home.
