Christian Y. Schwartz, Fordland, was born June 7, 1934 in Geneva, IN to Sam C. and Emma (Graber) Schwartz. He departed this life on December 16, 2018 in his home.

Christian loved building, hunting, camping, and fishing. He worked at Sportsman for over 15 years, and he ran his own construction crews for over 30 years. One of his other favorite pastimes was barbequing. He was raised Amish, and later followed the Baptist faith, attending Diggins Baptist Church. He was generous, always helping other people when they needed it and giving his heart to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Saloma; daughter, Emma; son, Johnny; sixteen grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Simmerman) Schwartz, of the home; four stepchildren, Ronnie Joe and Angie King, Grovespring, Chris King, Fordland, Angela Cherry, Fordland, and Tammy and David Shumake, Lamar; 11 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren. Survivors from his first wife are: sixteen children, Amanda, Saloma, Sammy, Chris, Anna, Lydia, Mary, Maggie, Jacob, Katie, Fannie, Leah, David, Jonas, Amos, and Ida; 193 grandchildren; 536 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in the Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with interment following in Green Hill Cemetery, Fordland. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday, also in the funeral home.
