Aletha Winans

  Aletha Winans, daughter of Robert Hicks and Harriet (Young) Hicks, was born November 19, 1932 near Northview, MO. She passed  away Saturday, December 22, 2018 in her granddaughter’s home in Marshfield, at the age of  86.

Aletha was of the Pentecostal faith. She worked for many years at General Electric  and Zenith in Springfield. She was also a loving and devoted foster mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Minnie Mae Hicks, Linnie Stroud,   Brooksie Tannehill and Nettie Evans; her brothers, Georgie Hicks, Claude Hicks, Frank Hicks, Denzil Hicks, Robert Hicks and Freeman Hicks; and  her first husband, John Pendergrass.

Survivors include  her husband, Edward; her children and their spouses,  Steve and Connie Pendergrass, Ozark, Bonita and Chad Childress, Fordland, William “Denny” Pendergrass, Ozark, Rhonda Tyree and fiancé Kris Gutting, Galena, Teresa and Jerry Dishman, Strafford, Jimmie and Josh Ehrlich, Springfield and Jeanie Cowan; friend of the family, Tim Cowan, Strafford ; her step-children, Steve Winans, Jeanette Ogle and Diane Sommerfield, all of Carthage; 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 in the Welch Cemetery, Northview, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
