Dale L. Denney
Dale Landin Denney of Seymour, was born May 24, 1936, to McKinnley & Ruth Irene (Johns) Denney in Cedar Gap, Missouri. He was born the middle child of 9 children. He departed this life June 26, 2025 in his home surrounded by family at the age of 89 years as a Christian & a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour.
He & his siblings were raised in the small knit community in the Seymour area during a much simpler time when the pace of living was much slower. They spent their childhood days in harmless, mischievous play & pranks that later became the frequent topic at family gatherings & holidays when they were adults. Laughter would ring from the dinner table as grown men & women would laugh about their childhood days.
Dale graduated from high school in Seymour. During his high school years he played basketball & became the first person in Seymour basketball history to score over 1,000 career points. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart Carol Davidson and he volunteered for the US Army with his brothers Norman & Calvin Keith. The three brothers served with the 87th regiment 10th infantry division & remained together through their service at Fort Ord, California & Aschaffenburg, Germany. During his military career he received the good conduct medal & qualified as an expert rifleman & marksman on the Browning Automatic rifle. He also pursued his interest for basketball & played on the US Army team. After he served his country he & Carol made their home in Seymour Missouri. There they raised two children Debra Gail & Douglas Dale.
Dale spent most of his working career at Dayco as a press cure operator. He retired from Dayco & continued the family tradition of raising Charolais beef cattle on the Davidson family farm, family tradition since 1942.
Dale a.k.a “Old Man Dale” as his great grandchildren referred to him enjoyed retired life spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren who say he was funny even when he didn’t try. He was gentle & kind yet stern, loved Westerns, loved animals particularly his beloved cat Daisy, & his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; one son, Douglas Dale Denney; one son-in-law, Wayne Baker; one great granddaughter, Journey Faith Baker; one sister, Ethylene Hunholz; four brothers, Harold Denney, Wallace Denney, Calvin Denney, Norman Denney; and several other family members.
He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Baker & Jack Little of Seymour, three grandchildren, Marcus Baker and Cari of Seymour, David Baker and Amanda of Seymour, Adrienne Soucie and Brendan of Kansas City; six great grandchildren, Allysann Baker, Dax Baker, Addysann Baker, Easton Baker, Olivia Baker, Chance Baker; one brother, Lonnie Denney and Joyce of Seymour; two sisters, Glenda Mingus of Seymour, Patsy Ice of Springfield; one daughter-in-law, Ingrid Denney of Springfield; several nieces and nephews, & his mascot cat “Daisy.”
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield. Interment will be in Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
