Lela Kathleen "Kap" Hagel
Lela Kathleen “Kap” Hagel, was born on October 5, 1925, in Elkland, MO, to Dean and Lucille (McCool) Case. She departed this life on September 21, 2025, at Colonial Springs, Buffalo, MO, at the age of 99.
Kap was raised in Elkland, Missouri and graduated from Elkland High School. On March 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to William Howard Hagel. They lived in Kansas City where they had an auction business and they raised registered Saint Bernards. After Bill’s passing, she moved back to the family property in Elkland. She loved to sing and even performed at the Gillioz Theater as a young woman. She showed her love for her friends and family through her cooking and hospitality.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Hagel; her son, Jim Richmond; and her sister Lenora McNabb.
Kap is survived by her sister, Carolyn Webb of Camdenton, MO; her grandson, Dwight Richmond; her honorary daughter, Edna Boston, three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:45 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Fraker Funeral Home.
