Darlene Loring
Darlene Carpenter Loring, age 96, of Springfield, MO was born September 6, 1929, daughter of Jim and Edith Carpenter, in Webster County, MO, and died May 6, 2026. She married Stanley Loring, Jr on July 7, 1962. Darlene attended Nation School in Webster County, MO and graduated from Seymour High School, in the Class of 1947. She attended Southwest Missouri State College during summers, and taught at Nation School, then taught at Burnett School, both in Webster County, MO. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State College, and taught in Marshfield, MO and in Independence, MO schools. She continued her education at University of Missouri completing her Master’s Degree and taught in the University City schools. Darlene continued her education by adding sixty plus hours of university credits. She focused her life’s work on enabling children to succeed in life by teaching them how to read and building their self-esteem.
Darlene was unselfish and always worked for the benefit of others. She set goals, and with hard work, sacrifice and determination. she achieved them. She was an inspiration to many.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years in 2021. Also preceding in death were her parents, and brothers Glenn Carpenter, Paul Carpenter, Lloyd Carpenter, Lyle Carpenter, and sister, Rosemary Carpenter Hake and a nephew, James “Jimmy” Carpenter. Preceding in death were the following in-laws: David Whitehurst, Ed Huffman, Vernon Singer, Jean Carpenter, Jim Hake, Mary Lou Carpenter, Frank Loring, Thelma Loring, and Gloria Loring.
Surviving sisters and sister and brother-in-law include: Evelyn Whitehurst, Marshfield, MO, Glenda Carpenter, Des Moines, IA, Neva and Bill Schroder, League City, TX, Shirley Huffman, Springfield, MO, and Carol Singer, Marshfield, MO
Darlene took pride in her nephews and nieces: David (Mary) Carpenter, Linda Carpenter, Tommy Carpenter, Dr. Michael (Guiann) Carpenter, Mark (Pam) Carpenter, Karen (Tom) Migneron, Brian (Stephanie) Carpenter, Steve (Darcy) Whitehurst, Stan (Julie) Whitehurst, Sally (Robert) Vestal, Janet Crate, Nancy (David) Socolosky, Randy (Michelle) Schroder, Wayne Schroder, Dr. Susan (Dr. Blaine) Easley, Pamela (Ryan) Farley, and John Hake. Darlene is survived by her husband’s nephews, Richard and Gary (Eva) Loring. Darlene also took great interest in the future of her many great and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with interment following in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be before services from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
