William Gene "Hobie" Cantrell

 
 

 

William Gene “Hobie” Cantrell, of Niangua, MO, was born on October 1, 1947, to Hobert and Verda (Dodson) Cantrell. He departed this life on May 8, 2026, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO, at the age of 78.

Hobie was a 1965 graduate of Niangua High School. He had worked as a concrete contractor. He was a member of Mission Home Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Geraldene Fain, Louella Moore, Clifford Cantrell, and Betty Jackson.

Hobie is survived by three sons, Brennan Cantrell and wife Stephanie of Lee’s Summit, MO, Brandon Cantrell of Niangua, and Brad Cantrell and Stephanie of Broken Arrow, OK; six grandchildren, Alex Keenan and Cameron, Ivie Cantrell, Ayden Cantrell and Alala, Keenan Cantrell, Shelby Cantrell, and Logan Medina; six great-grandchildren; and his companion Wanda Johnson of Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with visitation before services from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Marshfield Cemetery.
