Janice May "Jan" Schmidt
Janice “Jan” May Schmidt, Niangua, was born on July 19, 1957, in Denver, Colorado, to Warren and Marjorie (Padgett) Myers. She left this life at the age of 68, on March 15, 2026, with her family all around her.
Jan married to her best friend, Jim Schmidt, on August 31, 1973, in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Jan and Jim had such a special relationship, and it was a very rare occasion to see one without the other. They have spent decades making a lifetime of memories together. They enjoyed hiking and even started retirement by moving to the wilderness of Alaska!
Jan enjoyed crocheting, horses, and had many other hobbies. She liked to work and was always busy. Jan’s real passion though was her family. They have always been her greatest joy. Getting together for the holidays, and all the times in between, was what she looked forward to the most. Jan’s family meant everything to her, and Jan meant everything to her family.
Jan was a member of Four Rivers Church. Her walk with the Lord was evident for all to see. Her faith was something that she held dear and she was determined to instill into her kids and grandkids. We have peace knowing Jan is in Heaven, fully healed, and in the presence of her loving Savior.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Amie Wolcott; two grandchildren, Bailey Schmidt and Aubree Forester; and two brothers, Billy Myers and Harry Myers. We can only imagine what that beautiful reunion was like.
Jan is survived by her husband, Jim Schmidt, of the home; four children, Shane Schmidt and wife Tara, of Grovespring, Holly Forester and husband Conrad of Marshfield, Travis Schmidt of Marshfield, and Crystal Rowan and partner John Ballew of Niangua; three siblings, Bob Myers of Colorado, Lew Myers of Virginia, and Esther Sparks of Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jan Schmidt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Four Rivers Church, Marshfield, with visitation before services from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Marshfield Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the family and left in care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
