Marcia Carole Smith
Marcia Carole Smith, 81, of Marshfield was born July 25th, 1944. She passed away unexpectedly December 24th, 2025. Marcia was born in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Carroll and Betty Spriggs who both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were grandparents William Floyd Buchanan, Elsie (Garst) Buchanan, Cecil and Mary Spriggs, and son-in-law Curtis D. Hunt. She was united in marriage to Thomas Smith June 24th, 1961. They were married 64 years.
Marcia graduated from Marshfield High School and went on to earn her education degree from Southwest Missouri State University (MSU) in 1967. She then returned to Marshfield High, where she dedicated 32 years to teaching Home Economics to thousands of students. She was the matriarch of the family. She kept her family in line and we all tried our best to follow her moral compass. She never missed a birthday by sending a card or gift. If you had time to listen, she would talk your ear off bragging about her kids, grand kids and great grandchildren. She spent years actively engaged in Springfield Arts Club, playing in her bridge group and meeting weekly with her painting group in Springfield. She painted a different Christmas card every year that were enjoyed by many friends and family. She was also known for her cooking and baking skills. Her waffles and rolls were constantly requested in her kitchen.
Marcia is survived by: her husband Thomas Smith, children Steve (Lori) Smith of Marshfield, MO; Brian Smith of Severna Park, MD; Laura Hunt of Springfield, MO and her brother Tom (Regina) Spriggs. She was blessed with four grandchildren – Jessica (Andrew) Gieseke, Morgan (Ethan) Wilson, Weston (Kaylee) Smith, Cole Hunt, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was dearly loved by many friends and family, and will be greatly missed.
