Roy Thomas 'Tom' Price

Pvt. Roy Thomas 'Tom" Price, 81, Strafford, was born to Lester and Alice (Green) Price on July 4, 1936. He passed away at 8:21 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 in his home.

Tommy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1946 at the age of 10, along with his dad Lester at a John R. Rice tent revival in Springfield, MO.

Tom served in the United States Army for three years, including 14 months in Korea. he worked at Hutchins Steel Plant over 24 years and Superior Quality Steel for 25.

He enjoyed the outdoors,"back in the day," flying his J-3 Piper Cub, attending air shows and swimming at Little Bel. He was a regular for many years at the Northview Jam Session and sometimes he gave a sample of his "jig" dance at its best. Most of all he loves talking about the grandchildren and looking at their pictures made his smile. He had given each one a special nickname. Tom was a good grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dennis Price; two brothers-in-law, William C. Young, Sr. and Dale Maroney; and Montana, his talking cat of 21 years.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Helen; step-children, Van Lawson and his girlfriend LaDonna, Fred Lawson and his wife Brenda, all of Strafford, and Faye Phillips and her husband Jimmy, Aurora; three sisters, Judy Young and Shirley Maroney, both of Marshfield, Brenda Hall and her husband Gary, Springfield; one brother, Kenny Price and his wife Susy, Marshfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in the Black Oak Cemetery, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday in the funeral home.
