George 'Ed' Young

 
 

George Edwin ‘Ed’ Young, Niangua, was born January 11, 1947, to George W. and Maude Victoria (Carpenter) Young in Seymour, MO. He departed this life February 5, 2024, in Marshfield Care Center at the age of 77 years.

Eddie, as he was known in the osage community, graduated from Marshfield High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war aboard the U.S.S. Hermitage. He was a longtime dairy farmer and loyal co-worker and friend to Bill Dyche.

He is preceded by his parents; his step-father, George W. Deckard; one sister, Marylou Young; one son-in-law, John Shelton.

He is survived by his wife, Vida Lee (Ellison) Young; seven children, Barbara Eagleson of Marshfield, Stacey and Mat Strouse of Niangua, David and Dana Young of Niangua, Nancy Shelton of Marshfield, Crystal Young of Niangua, Charlie Young of Marshfield, Kim Young of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Tony Deckard of Marshfield, Carl and Twania Deckard of Springfield, and David Deckard of Ozark.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, Missouri. Visitation will be before services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Interment with full military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
