Gerald Duane Edson

 
 

Gerald Duane Edson was born in Independence, Missouri, on October 20, 1937, and passed away at the age of 88 on March 18, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri from a brief battle with colon cancer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Audria; an older brother, Fred Roger; his oldest son, Joseph; and his wife, Vera.

He began playing violin at the age of five and eventually graduated with a Mather’s degree in music in 1966. He had a passion for electronics which led to him getting his amateur radio license in 1963. He married Vera Kimrey on December 16, 1962. Gerald, or “Gerry” to his friends, taught music in the public school system for a total of nineteen years. He also had a photography studio for several years and eventually found a new career in electronic sales which led to a position as a sales engineer. Gerald also had a passion for flying and earned his private pilot license in 1972. He was a lifelong member of the RLDS church. He became a Priest and later an Elder serving more than 50 years, actively preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Gerald is survived by an older brother, Robert; a daughter, Kim; two sons, Roger and Jared; two grandsons, Avery and Stephen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, Missouri.
