Harlan F. Gohl

Harlan Fredrick Gohl was born Oct. 6, 1947 in McCook, Nebraska and passed away peacefully in Springfield, Missouri on Nov. 26, 2023. Harlan grew up on a farm near Culbertson, Nebraska. After high school and completing technical education, he served in the 9th Infantry of the U.S. Army including a tour in the Vietnam war. After his military service, he worked for John Deere in Wauneta, Nebraska. He later moved to Holyoke, Colorado where he continued working as a service technician for John Deere, retiring from the company after 38 years of service.

After retiring from John Deere in 2009, Harlan and his wife Pam moved to an acreage in Strafford, Missouri. Harlan was an avid angler and continued to enjoy finding new fishing spots at different Missouri lakes. When not staying busy outdoors, he was working in his shop, looking after his property or taking care of his goats, donkeys, chickens and other animals.

Harlan was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) in 2019. Despite declining health since that time, he always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.

He left behind his wife of 53 years, Pam Gohl; his daughter Kim (Gohl) Retchloff and family Barry, Dexten and Tiya; and his son Matt Gohl and family Keely (Gafner), Elise and Hayden. Harlan’s son Michael Gohl preceded him in death, passing away in December 2022.
