Gary Clearance Sanders August 22, 1943 – July 25, 2025
Gary Clearance Sanders, Marshfield, MO, passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2025 after a long battle of cancer, heart and lung disease. At the time of his passing he was 81 years, 11 months and 3 days old. Gary was born August 22, 1943 in rural Dallas County, Missouri in the home of his parents Clarence Levi Sanders and Ethel Lucille (Hicks) Sanders.
Gary was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Barbara Sanders McCurry and brother-in-law Junior McCurry, his brothers, Steve Sanders and Jim Sanders and sister Charlotte Allen. One son, Dennis Peak, nephews Mark Clopton, Dennis Sanders, and Jeff Sanders.
Gary is survived by his wife, Glenda of the home, sisters Patsy Pearson, Springfield, brother Tim Sanders, Morrisville.
Gary married Karen Dohle in 1961 and to this union was born four daughters. In 1987 he married Glenda Bodenhamer Peak and gained another daughter and four sons.
Gary is survived by daughters Theresa Sanders of Halfway, Karrie (Curtis) Ingram of Polk, Kim (Tim) Logan, Cross Timbers, Lisa (David) Barham, Halfway, and Dana (Les) Knapp, Marshfield, Sons Jamar Griffin, Marshfield, David (Dana) Peak, Marshfield, Roy Glenn (Karen) Peak, Nixa and daughter in law, Mindy Peak of Dadeville.
Twenty-one Grandchildren, James and Jake Sanders, Eric and Joshua Ingram, Valen, Connor, and Christopher Logan, Jenny, Brad, Ben and Casey Barham, Jennifer, Jeremy, Ashley, and Michael Griffin, Megan Parrott, Nick, Audrey, and Dustin Peak, Lindsey and Kallie Bilyeu. 42 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. The babies and little ones gravitated toward Gary and he loved them all so very much.
Gary was a very talented guitar player and singer. He loved nothing more than to get together and play music and sing or go to a jam session. The Sanders Gospel Band played in Elkland and later in Fair Grove on the first Saturday night of the month for many years. He was also a wonderful storyteller, with so many stories from a long, interesting life, including his childhood and truck driving days. Gary was an excellent cook and was famous for several specialties including his hot rolls and smoked meats.
Gary was saved at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist church in 1955. He loved the Lord and shared his testimony of salvation with many.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 at Fraker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Elkland. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. Monday until the time of the service
